Rich Beem

Rich Beem, born on August 24, 1970, in Phoenix, Arizona, is a notable figure in professional golf, best known for his victory at the 2002 PGA Championship. He attended New Mexico State University, where he played collegiate golf before turning professional in 1994.

Before his breakthrough in golf, Beem’s career was unconventional; he temporarily left the sport and worked in Seattle selling car stereos and cell phones. Inspired by the success of his friend and fellow golfer, Paul Stankowski, Beem returned to professional golf with renewed determination.

Beem’s persistence paid off when he secured his first PGA Tour win at the 1999 Kemper Open. His most significant achievement came in 2002 when he won the PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club, notably holding off Tiger Woods, who was at the peak of his career. This victory was a highlight of Beem’s career, showcasing his skill and composure under pressure.

After retiring from regular tour competition, Beem transitioned into broadcasting and has been serving as a golf analyst and commentator for Sky Sports since 2015, providing insights and analysis on major golf events, including the PGA Tour and Ryder Cup.

In addition to his broadcasting career, Beem maintains an active presence on social media, sharing his experiences and insights from the world of golf. You can follow him on Instagram at @beemerpga and on X (formerly Twitter) at @beemerpga.
